Research article introductions in scientific journals of business and linguistics: structural analysis

The focus of this research paper is to find what are the similarities and differences between two different disciplines, business and linguistics. The research done by using Swales CARS model, which was updated in 2004. The newer version was used to make a study more accurate. In order to find similarities and differences two corpora were compiled, for material using research article introductions. Each corpus has 20 articles, making it 40 in total. To make research deeper some grammatical information was taken into consideration such as tenses, voice, and pronouns. Some interesting results were found which prove that these disciplines share similarities, although there are some differences. The majority of differences lay in the usage of Moves, Since Move 2 is more elaborated in linguistics, whilst Move 3 has higher frequency in business articles. What concerns grammatical information there are also some similarities since the usage of tenses and voice is similar, whilst the usage of pronouns differs. This research shows that disciplines are different yet have some similarities as well. For the future studies a more extended research can be done by either taking more examples of these disciplines, or more spheres can be included.
