Abstract

In this study I attempt to examine the effect that different types of concealed-carry legislation; shall-issue, may-issue, ban and deregulation, have on the rates of different crimes; murder, rape, assault, larceny, burglary, robbery and motor vehicle theft. My findings suggest that less restrictive gun laws may decrease violent crime and increase property crime, but the addition of linear time trends into the regression complicate the results and thus no significant conclusions can be drawn.
