Abstract

Plan B The purpose of this study was to determine the perceived educational needs of Wisconsin’s technology and engineering education instructors, pertaining to student safety policies and procedures. The primary concerns of this study addressed the highest priority of safety related needs of technology and engineering education instructors, alongside the current practices of Wisconsin’s programs compared to other states. Technology and engineering education, formally called industrial arts, has changed over the last century. Safety practices have also changed with the re-tooling of content and curriculum offerings. The research of this study was conducted in a quantitative way by surveying current technology and engineering education instructors who are members of the Wisconsin Technology and Engineering Education Listserv. Participants responded regarding safety policies and procedures related to their own educational institutions. The data collected was compiled and analyzed to provide an overview of perceived safety needs that impact students enrolled in technology and engineering education classes. This research provides an overview of common safety trends in technology and engineering education shops, laboratories, and classrooms of Wisconsin during the fall of 2022.
