Abstract

Abstract (1) Purpose: This narrative review will analyze the impact of covid-19 pandemic on mental health of general population as well as vulnerable groups and healthcare professionals. (2) Methods: Literature search with Keywords using PubMed database looking for relevant papers and summarizing results. (3) Results: Findings include deterioration of general mental wellbeing, increased prevalence of anxiety, depression, fear, insomnia/sleep disturbance, suicidal ideation. (4) Conclusion: The covid-19 pandemic has severe implications for mental health and well being of large portions of our population. Specific risk groups such as children, elderly, comorbidly sick, current, or previously mentally ill, young women and economically psychosocially vulnerable individuals are at increased risk of suffering from mental disorders during covid-19 pandemic.
