Abstract

Abstract: The present dissertation is characterized as a qualitative investigation that has as its research locus the I Encontro de formação em matemática para intérpretes educacionais de Libras ? I FormaGepam promoted by the Grupo de Estudos e Pesquisa em Alteridade e Educação Matemática ? Gepam/UFSC.The objective is to analyze, through a Thematic Analysis, the potential of the I FormaGepam, according to the participants. Therefore, this investigation is based on a Thematic Analysis ? TA, a research method that analyzes and identifies patterns within a set of data in order to form themes for analysis (BRAUN; CLARKE, 2006). This work takes as a data set the questionnaires answered by the participants of the I FormaGepam during the registration and evaluation of the event. These questionnaires were answered by 42 educational interpreters and the data related to them led to the definition of the themes ?Interpretation of mathematical discourse in Libras: creation of signs and mathematical knowledge? and ?The interaction between teachers and educational interpreters?. In the analysis report of the first theme, it was found that the I FormaGepam provided participants with a moment to reflect on the importance of conceptual studies to help them in the interpretation process. In view of this, one of the potentialities of the I FormaGepam highlighted by them was that the training will allow them, during interpretations in mathematics classes, to be able to choose/develop the best interpretation strategies. However, it should be noted that the effort of the interpreter alone is not enough for the success of the interpretations, since, as observed in the report of the second analysis topic, the mathematics teacher is primarily responsible for the teaching process, and for therefore, it is important that he pay attention to the language and the discursive construction during the classes, as did the speakers of the I FormaGepam, which, according to the participants, was another potential of the event.
