Abstract: Covid-19 pandemic showed the presence of great narratives in the Brazilian reality. Characterized by scientific denialism and anti-vaccine movement, the great narratives found fertile soil in the Brazilian populist context, which endorses and legitimizes the performance of these narratives, according to the very constitution of the Brazilian social imagination and the ideologies linked to it. Thus, vaccine-producing organizations in Brazil, Butantan Institute and Oswaldo Cruz Foundation, when they are affected by them, were actively engaged in the production of meanings from the elaboration of counterattacks, or also, resistance narratives, to negotiate the meanings Faced with the dominant senses linked to the great dominant narratives. From this, the objective of this research is to understand how the sense production movement of vaccine-producing organizations in Brazil occurs from the COVID-19 pandemic, considering the Brazilian populist context. To this end, the research adopts a qualitative approach and assumes as a method the abductive logic, which advocates interpretation and theoretical-empirical inference. Regarding the temporal clipping is characterized as a cross -sectional research with longitudinal approach, comprising the period from January 1, 2020 to June 30, 2022. The research strategy used is narrative research that enables access and interpretation of meanings produced by through the apprehension of the stories and the plot that unifies them. Secondary data were collected (i) on official Facebook profiles, (ii) on their official YouTube channels and (iii) on the electronic sites of each producing organization, from May 20, 2022 to August 22, 2022, from the following parameters: "novo coronavírus", "coronavírus", "corona", "Covid-19", "pandemia", "pandemia de Covid-19", "vacinação", e "vacina". Data collection generated 1635 Facebook posts, 323 YouTube videos - whose amount is 35h15min56s, and 1476 news from electronic sites. For data analysis two distinct but complementary models were used: narrative analysis and rhetorical analysis of the images. The first method prioritizes the narrative act and characteristics of stories, while the second encompasses the denotative and connotative linguistic criteria to illustrate what message behind the image. The results revealed two counterattacks at the Butantan Institute: (i) Our processes and products are based on commitment and respect for science and (ii) CoronaVac is the Butantan vaccine, safe and effective against the new coronavirus. On the other hand, Fiocruz presented only one (i) Fiocruz is a hub of science and acts for Brazilian society. The research lists three contributions. The first one alludes to the structural character of narratives in the conception of the great and the counterattacks; the second recognizes that the communicative practices of organizations are based on rhetorical elements, used in a deliberate and instrumental manner; and the third advocates that the movement of sensemaking of vaccine producing organizations is a…
